Open Question: chances of an advance race as us in the universe,arent we lucky were alive?
so ive been doing some thinking, after watching the universe on discovery channel, and there are so many parameters needed for an intelegent, techonological civilisation to arise for example the moon has to be the right size and distance to stabilize the earths orbit, without it wed have chaotic weather paterns, we have our habitable zone which is the distance the earth is from the sun so its not too or hot too cold and because we are at the right distance from the sun out oceans dont freeze or boil, we have jupiter to protect us from imcoming asteroids, scientists have also figured out that we are at the right place in our galaxy for life to exist, since we have a black hole in the centre of our galaxy and planets and stars close to the centre are orbiting the black hole at incredible speeds, we also have enough metal on the planet which we have created our technology from. im not surprised that extra terrestial life is difficult to find since , these parameters must take place for any communication between inteligent techonlogical life forms to take place. so my question is how many more parameters are needed in order for an intelegent techonlogical civilisation to come into existance in the universe?
Open Question: What is the name of a movie from the 80's?
I vaguely remember a movie from the 80's being on tv once. I remember loving it as a kid. But I'm kind of vague. There was a device that had a cylinder metal base, that hand buttons on it. With metal branch like arms out the top I think...but I think the plot was that this group of kids had it and some adults wanted it but they would do bad things with it.....like I said I'm blurry on details. I think the device made them switch dimensions or summoned aliens or something because they used it near the end of the movie....I have no clue...This has been bugging me for years please help!!
