Is my story OK? Tips/Critiques wanted. Best Answer will be picked. I am 13 if u need 2know. The sea is a beautiful and majestic thing - at times. Sometimes it may look calm and peaceful but in actuality it is a deadly thing - however pretty it may seem. You may look at the water and see some magnificent thing - something alluring and magical, but I see a devious monster - to me the sea is alive and I have believed that ever since the tragic day five years ago when I lost something that could never be replaced: I was playing on the beach with a few of my friends when we ran towards the sea to try and find some shells to take home and give to my sister - she was making a necklace out of them. I was the one who spotted it, and now I wish I could go back and make it so I never found it. I bent down and looked at the shiny pearl, and saw that it was attached to a whole string of equally shiny pearls- and they looked so…. "Beautiful," I whispered. The pearls seemed so perfect. "What's that you've got there?" shouted Jamie maliciously. Jamie was the leader of our group and the one boy who could control everyone. He looked at you as if he was going to punch you and then stopped. Stopped so quickly that you weren't sure what he was going to do. We probably would have beaten him up if it wasn't for the praise he gave - after bullying you he would apologise in a sincere tone,and then praise us. We couldn't help lapping up his praise and smiling a foolish smile - he liked us. Of course, deep down we knew we were just his toys, his puppets - but that didn't stop us following him anyway. "Oh Jamie, it's just…just nothing!" I stammered, hoping he wouldn't punch me. "Nothing, is it? Well then - give it here!" he shouted. I had no choice - if I didn't…. "Fine! Here you go Jamie. It's just my sister's fake pearls!" - I made up a feeble excuse and reluctantly dropped the jewels into his outstretched hands. "That's better!" he told me smugly and then started fingering the beads. "Hang on! They're not fake,". I gulped, surprised - who would wear real pearls at a beach? Jamie told us to dig away at the sand- to see if the ex-owner of the necklace had any more gifts for us! He obviously expected a couple of trinkets, so obediently we followed the order. We weren't expecting it when we saw a massive pile of rubies, necklaces, pearls - even a bar of solid gold, buried in the sand. Jamie laughed and sat on top of the pile. Shaking my head nervously I stuttered: "Jamie - you could break them! I think we should tell someone!" (After all the jewels obviously belonged to someone.) "Don't be silly JJ!" he scoffed - holding up a wooden sign - "Northern Beauty 1927," I stared at the sign and realised that the jewels all belonged to passengers onboard this local ship which had sunk on it's maiden voyage years ago. "Look, what use does an old woman have for these? And we could use them to buy our families big houses by the beach -- we could live here, a moment's walk from the sea!" His words stirred me, and thinking he was right, I continued to dig- until the storm clouds arrived on the horizon. "Jamie! -I'm going!" I called out. He shook his head- "If we leave the jewels may not be here tomorrow!". I didn't care so turned, rain now pouring down around me. He instructed my friends to carry on, and stood up beside the pile, twirling the sign around his head. Suddenly a wave cast him into the cold, dark sea. This sent us running…. I will never forget that day. Jamie lived - a life boat took him back to the shore, and the jewels vanished back to their ocean grave. I lost something then - I lost my friends and my home, and most importantly I lost the sea. My Dad made us move, move miles away from the coastal town. We moved to London, and I have never seen the ocean since that day.
